Sun Safety

As we enter into the summer season, it is important to spread awareness for sun safety. Extended, unprotected exposure to the sun has been shown to be the main contributing factor behind skin cancer. Though exposure to the sun is unavoidable, there are many ways to be sun safe.

The most important tip is to always wear sunscreen. SPF 15 sunscreen is sufficient for day-to-day wear while SPF 30 is recommended for times of extended sun exposure.

Wearing protective clothing such as; sunglasses, hats, long sleeves and pants are also great ways to keep yourself safe.

Last, the sun is the most dangerous during the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM. If possible, avoid sun exposure during those times.
